Madge aka The Dancing Queen persuaded me to visit this cinema to watch a recording of an Andre Rieu concert from July 2023 in Maastricht. The Savoy is one of the few remaining suburban cinemas. Lovingly maintained and well worth using rather than the soulless multiplex cinemas. We shared one of the comfy two seater sofas at the back of the auditorium. Great experience and great concert. Bottles of Pinot Grigio £15; served in an ice bucket.

Torn with this review. It's a lovely cinema, and the sofa seating was amazing, pleasant and friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere. So why only 3 stars? The temperature in the cinema itself. The lobby is nice and warm, but the cinema was cold. Nobody removed their coats, and whilst blankets are provided, it did put a damper on the whole experience. I'm hoping the heating was just malfunctioning for today, although I've read other reviews mentioning the same, and the blanket provision is a bit of a giveaway they're aware of the issue. I would (and will) be coming back, I'll most likely be packing a hot water bottle and some thermal socks though.

I love going to The Savoy and love the ambience. Just one thing though, sitting towards the back, on the right as you look at the screen, it felt very draughty around my legs. Didn't detract enough to affect the enjoyment of the film though, once I settled into it. Always happy to support this fabulous asset to the community. Long may it remain!

Lovely local cinema who we are more than happy to support. Unfortunately when we visited this afternoon to see the film 'Wonka' it was very cold inside. We were sat at the very front as had a disabled peron with us so not sure if it was only in that area ? No one came to provide us with any blankets. The coldness distracted us from enjoying the film. Shame

The cinema is a lovely building, when entering the lobby it can be very busy with everyone waiting to go into the cinema. Plenty of drinks, snacks and popcorn available to buy at reasonable prices. We paid for the slightly more expensive luxury seats which were really nice, especially for a 3 hour movie (Oppenheimer). When going into the cinema room, a lovely lady showed us to our seats which I believe was because we had luxury seats. You don’t pick seats in advance which is a shame but with the cinema being fairly small, most viewing angles are fine. Seats were very comfortable, no frustratingly loud people ruining the experience at all and all in all, a great old school cinema, super.

Cool place! Proper old style cinema. Took me back to my salad days. Thanks for showing the brilliant film of Lost Illusions. A great night out!

This is such a fabulous little place. Beats the big commercial chains hands down. I much prefer supporting a small private cinema than a corporation, and feel like coming here is more of an occasion than going to a big multi-screen complex. The prices are so reasonable and the luxury sofas are a joy to watch a film on! You can even get a mug of tea to enjoy while watching.
